Expansion History

It started with vision on the campus of Saint Leo University.

In the Fall of 2002, Joe Stubbs, began his freshman year at Saint Leo University. He immediately noticed the lack of diversity on the campus and attempted to make his mark on student life. To merely say that his interest in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was great, is an understatement. After much research about Historically Black Fraternities he saw fit to try and expand the prestigious fraternal bond of Kappa Alpha Psi to all young men at Saint Leo. Mr. Stubbs’ task was to then spark the interest of the then Southern Province Polemarch, Dr. Frank Emmanuel, and one of the Southern Province's respectful Alummi Chapters, (mainly the Tampa Alumni Chapter).

On April 16th 2004, four interested men attended an informational meeting held by the Tampa Alumni chapter at the Diamond House in Tampa, FL. Almost one year later eleven interested men attended an official informational meeting held by the Tampa Alumni chapter at Saint Leo University on January 29th, 2005. On February 15th, of that year, four young men met acceptance requirements to be accepted into the fraternity, and on March 19th, 2005, three of the four young men were inducted and initiated into the Noble Klan of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. These young men, The Three Khronikles of Khaos, (Debaro Huyler, Joe Stubbs, and Kenrick Roberts) immediately began to build upon Kappa's strong legacy of achievement. The three brought forth Saint Leo University’s second NPHC organization at that time; with the NPHC primary ambassador being Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. prior to this point.

From the start, these three young men made an impressive mark at Saint Leo; all three were considered achievers, and they strived for excellence on their campus. They worked long and hard to make a name for themselves through involvements with departments such as residence life, student government, and campus activities (just to name a few). Within their first semester on campus, they acquired the highest combined GPA for fraternities. There was no doubt that the organization would flourish as time progressed.

At the present time, the Saint Leo University chapter remains an expansion of the Zeta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. at the University of South Florida, but members are continuously working to acquire a charter at Saint Leo.
